Red Hot Mamas

By David W. Christner

Abby and Dan are a successful married couple whose children are grown and out of the house. The peace and solitude they enjoy, however, abruptly changes when Abby invites her newly widowed mother-in-law, Sarah, to move in with them. In a classic case of one-upmanship common amongst in-laws, Sarah immediately phones Claudia, Abby's mother, to tell her the good news. Not to be out maneuvered, Claudia masterfully applies the guilt routine with Dan, and before you know it, both mothers-in-law have packed their belongings and moved in with their now beleaguered children.

September 7 to October 6

Something to Hide

By Leslie Sands

The setting is a charming house in the English countryside, where Howard Holt, a writer, is visited each weekend by his wife, who is also his publisher. During the week he is joined by his mistress-a fact (although Howard doesn't realize it) of which his wife is well aware. As the action begins the departing mistress is (apparently) run over and killed by the wife as she enters the driveway, and Howard gallantly offers to dispose of the body. Thereafter begins a sequence of events in which one unexpected turn follows another, as a seemingly gullible police inspector accepts the story cooked up by Howard and his wife to cover their tracks. But their relief is short-lived as blackmail, another murder, and questions as to the real fate of the mistress enter the picture-and all are deftly used by the inspector (who is more clever than they thought) to set the trap which untangles the twisted web of lies and brings the real murderer to justice.

October 19 to November 17 (No performance on Friday, November 9)

A Thousand Clowns

By Herb Gardner

This benchmark of Broadway comedy produced one of the theatre's most beloved roles: a bachelor uncle who is endeavoring to rear his precocious nephew. He has tired of writing cheap comedy for a children's television program and finds himself unemployed with some free time to saunter through New York and do everything he has always wanted to do like standing on Park Avenue in the dawn's early light and hollering, "All right, all you rich people; everybody out in the street for volleyball." When social services comes to insure that the nephew is receiving a proper upbringing, he finds himself solving their problems. Eventually, he must go back to work or lose his nephew, or he might marry the social worker. In any case, he remains one of the funniest non conformist of the stage.

THE NUTCRACKER'S NUTS

The Holiday Comedy by Dennis Wickline
*Sunday 2pm matinees
Please note: Seen THE NUTCRACKER'S NUTS already?
See our new SIX-SHOW SEASON TICKET offers below!

THE NUTCRACKER'S NUTS takes place in the Northern Lower Penninsula. Simon's Rest is a retirement community in Frankfort, Michigan. Every Christmas the residents perform their traditional, boring, and harder and harder to produce version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Every Christmas, that is, except this one. Minnie Winchester, an elderly piano teacher, suggests that the residents do something new, something like THE NUTCRACKER. Everyone agrees that it would be wonderful to try something new and THE NUTCRACKER is accepted immediately. Tickets are quickly sold out. Just as rehearsals begin, however, the retirees discover one important and overlooked detail, THE NUTCRACKER is a ballet, and Minnie Winchester, a rather rotund lady who always wanted to play Clara, the lead, doesn't know how to dance.

Special Holiday Group Rates for THE NUTCRACKER'S NUTS: Group of 13 or more-$3.00 off or $13 each, Group of 21 or more-$5.00 off or $11 each*

1/11/08 to 2/9/08

Corpse!

By Gerald Moon

Think of Sleuth crossed with Deathtrap crossed with a Feydeau and you'll have an idea of the wild and crazy, unpredictable hijinks in this hit play. Corpse! is set in London in 1936, and tells the story of twin brothers, one of whom plots to murder the other in the most unusual circumstances. Evelyn, an out of work actor, engages the genial Irishman Powell, with a shady past, to do away with his suave, sophisticated, monied twin. Their plotting in Evelyn's Aladdin's cave of a flat is punctuated by the visits of a delightfully theatrical landlady. As with most fool proof plans, things do not go as they should and people are not what they seem. Corpse! is not so much a whodunnit as a whodunnit to whom.

2/22 to 3/29 (no performances on Easter Weekend 3/21 - 3/23)

Weekend Comedy

By Jeanne Bobrick and Sam Bobrick

The celebrated co authors of such classics as Norman, Is That You?, Murder at the Howard Johnsons and Wally's Cafe and his wife have created another sure fire winner in which two couples rent the same Catskills cabin for the same weekend by mistake. One couple is staid and middle aged; the other free wheeling and young. They decide to share and before the weekend is over the youngsters have learned how to add stability to their relationship and the oldsters have learned to loosen up.

4/11 to 5/17 (12 performances)

Escanaba in da Moonlight

By Jeff Daniels

When the Soady clan reunites for the opening day of deer season at the family's Upper Peninsula camp, thirty-five-year-old Reuben Soady brings with him the infamous reputation of being the oldest Soady in the history of the Soadys never to bag a buck. In a hunting story to beat all hunting stories, ESCANABA IN DA MOONLIGHT spins a hilarious tale of humor, horror and heart as Reuben goes to any and all lengths to remove himself from the wrong end of the family record book.
